We are encouraging all parishioners to embrace the Corporal Works of Mercy as part of our Advent preparation. Luke’s Gospel reading for the Third Sunday of Advent says when the people asked what they should do, John the Baptist replied “Whoever has two cloaks should share with the person who has none. And whoever has food should do likewise.” To this end, on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 19, you are asked to bring your offering of new or gently used coats, scarves, gloves or non-perishable food items to Church. At the Offertory you will be asked to bring these items and place them in a box in front of the altar. The winter items will be given to Catholic Charities for their coat drive and the food items will be donated to the food bank.
